What exactly is a Web site?
To put it simply, a Web site is a collection of Web pages that can be accessed by any computer connected to the internet. For example, Amazon.com is a Web site, but there are millions of Web pages that make up the site.
A company or an individual tells you how to get to their Web site by giving you the address (AKA URL) of their home page, which is often their domain name. From the home page, you can get to all the other pages on their site.
Additional components to a Web site
A web site isn’t anything if it can’t be seen by others! In order for others to view your site, it needs a domain name, an identifier for your site and yours alone. IE, the address of your site. Learn about our domain registration
Once you have a domain name, you need a host. A host is basically a large computer (AKA Server) that stores all of your domain’s web pages and makes them available to computers connected to the internet. Learn about our hosting

Web sites are comprised of three main elements:
- Look and feel: The images, colors and layout
- Usability: The ease with which users can find information
- Content: The information itself
